What does G′ mean?
G′ is the storage modulus or elastic modulus of a viscoelastic material. In simple terms, it describes how strongly a gel resists deformation and how much elastic behavior it displays when stress is applied.
A higher G′ generally indicates a firmer or more deformation-resistant gel under the specific conditions of the test. A lower G′ generally indicates a softer, more deformable gel. However, those statements are only useful when the products are measured using comparable methods.
Why dermal fillers need rheology
HA fillers are not simple liquids and not rigid solids. They are viscoelastic gels, meaning they show both elastic and viscous behavior. Rheology is the field used to describe how materials deform and flow under force.
